Gloucestershire Presentation

Driving Safely for Longer is Back
A presentation to support older drivers and their family and friends

The Gloucestershire Older Drivers Forum are running another presentation to support older drivers and their family and friends with useful advice.

Are you an older driver finding our fast moving, high volume, summer traffic a bit of a challenge?
Would you like advice on how to keep driving safely for longer?
Are you a family member or friend concerned about an older driver?

If so the Older Drivers Forum provides a popular free ZOOM webinar that could be helpful.

This is one of the better webinars (on any subject) that I have attended – you and Nigel had clearly put considerable thought and effort into creating an interesting, informative, thought-provoking, and eye-catching presentation.

The presentation is arranged for Saturday 17th July 2021 at 10am. The presentation is:

  • Free join
  • The presentation is 30 minutes in length, with 30 minutes for questions and answers
  • Places are limited so you will need to register, see below available dates

Following another lockdown break from driving, it’s more important than ever that older people feel confident and competent behind the wheel before setting off.

Should over-70s face compulsory health tests before being allowed behind the wheel? After a spate of accidents involving elderly drivers, the Medical Minefield team investigate whether stricter rules are needed, talking to Nigel Lloyd Jones (Co-organiser for Gloucestershire Older Drivers Forum), who lost his mother in an accident involving his elderly stepfather behind the wheel, and speaking to Sergeant Rob Heard, a retired policeman and founder and chair of the Older Drivers Forum, who argues that stricter rules are needed to deal with drivers (of any age) whose health makes them pose a risk to other motorists.

Drivers Skills 60+ Virtual Open Day

Drivers Skills Scheme 60+ Virtual Open Day (Hampshire residents only)

Zoom Webinar

We’re inviting older motorists to join our Road Safety colleagues on the Driver Skills Scheme 60+ Virtual Open Day on Wednesday 19th May 2021 (10.30am to 12 noon).

This will be your chance to find out more about the scheme and to decide whether a driving appraisal will suit you. While we know that older drivers are generally safe as a group, we can all become complacent about our driving and pick up bad habits which, if not addressed, can increase the risk of an incident on the roads.

This webinar is FREE to register and offers a detailed look at what is involved in one of our driving appraisals and how it has helped many drivers over the past few years. It will explain when an assessment could be advisable and how to arrange one. There will also be an opportunity to put questions to the experts, including the Chairman of the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Older Drivers Forum.
